Aims & Objectives

Today, manufacturers of water efficient bathroom products ensure that aesthetics match practical benefits, which apart from hygiene also include water and energy saving – two issues that are growing massively in social importance.

The aim of the Scheme is to help you easily identify water efficient products that when installed and used correctly use less water than other products available on the market.

Clever use of smart technology in stunning designs means we can do our bit to stamp out waste without compromising on style. Manufacturers are working hard to ensure they meet Government’s recommendations for saving water, whilst still delivering the sexy looking, performance packed bathing experience we want.

The Scheme provides a credible, recognisable label and website helping you become more aware of water issues and the water efficient products available on the market today.

Waterwise supports the BMA’s Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme. It is fantastic to see that the UK bathroom industry has had the foresight and the environmental commitment to collectively set up a labelling scheme. The BMA’s scheme is unique throughout the world as it is driven by the industry. The scheme is realistic and flexible enough to have the confidence and support of manufacturers but also robust and stringent enough to ensure that customers can have confidence that the label will make a real difference to the environment. Water scarcity is one of the most pressing challenges that face the world today and at the same time heating water in the home is one of the largest sources of domestic carbon emissions. Well done to the BMA for taking action to address these challenges and at the same time ensuring that the bathroom industry has the space to adapt without damaging prosperity or the jobs in a tough economic climate – this is true sustainability.
